Re: British TV in Canada

If you really want live UK TV there's tvcatchup.com . They currently have 40 UK channels and also provide PS3 support. As mentioned before, you'll need a VPN service to watch live UK TV over the Net.

Re: ps2 and dvd's working in canada??

Hi Julie,

As mentioned, some TVs sold in Canada will accept a PAL signal. There are Toshiba and Sony model ranges that do this but it's not mentioned in the specs. I brought over a Toshiba...

Re: Step son not coming to canada - why do we still have to pay for medical?

So if an unaccompanying son or daughter has to take medicals now, does this mean that they won't have to take medicals again in the future if they decide to move to Canada? Don't medicals expire for...

Re: Uk T.V.s in Canada

A PAL-encoded DVD will not show much if anything at all on an NTSC TV.

I brought over a multi-region DVD player from the UK along with my collection of PAL DVDs. I discovered that some LCD TVs...

Re: If Medicals Expire, What's next?

If your medicals expire because of processing delays you have to wait until they request new medicals. It happened to me two years ago and everything was fine in the end.

Re: are our plans realistic??

Your family are permanent residents but your newborn baby will not be allowed to stay in Canada unless you give birth in Canada. You must give birth in Canada to avoid this problem. Your newborn will...

Re: cheap phone calls to canada

My wife also uses TalkTalk to call me in Canada at no extra cost, as long as each call doesn't exceed 70 minutes.

Re: hi-new to forum

Upsticks,

I'm also a Londoner and have lived here all my life. I know that living in a city like Vancouver or Toronto won't be much different from living in London in terms of having to work and...

Re: Positive house selling stories needed!

Hi,

my 3 bed terraced house went on the market in early March this year and after five viewings I accepted an offer in mid March. The buyer has finally got their mortgage application approved and...

Re: Visit after PPR but not landing

You can tell the customs officer that you are there to visit, not to land at this time. Obviously you have to make sure that you don't miss the deadline for landing.
If you are all not landing...

Re: High Blood Pressure in Medicals

It may just be nerves in which case there's nothing to worry about. If the BP is persistently high, then as long as there isn't an underlying problem (e.g. kidney or heart problems) it can be...

Re: When you landed thier how did you show proof of funds?

We landed in Toronto last month and were asked how much money we had on us and how much we will be bringing later. I had an online print-out but they didn't look at it.

Also, I don't think you...

Re: What are they doing?

Hi,

I also had to retake medicals due to the first ones expiring. I then had to wait almost 6 months before PPR. These things do take time and as long as there is no serious medical problem,...

Re: Anyones medical go out of date?

That's part of the reason why I was angry. They requested the first medicals and then let them expire. When I tried to find out what the hold-up is, I was told that it's with one of their departments...

My medicals expired in May last year and I had to retake them in September. I still had to wait 5 months after the last medicals before my case was finalised and I received PPR. It was all very...

Re: At last, PPR!

It is indeed strange that it should take significantly longer by post, and in your case posting them is the logical choice since you're so far away.

Re: At last, PPR!

I am waiting to receive renewed passports and then I'll be heading to CHC London to hand them in. As stated earlier, it takes just two weeks and is much quicker and cheaper than posting them.

Re: At last, PPR!

Yes, there were times when I felt like giving up and thought that I would never be a PR in Canada. One of the frustrating things is putting part of your life on hold for so long. But now I've got the...
