Yes but I thought that I needed the Trades certificate before I could do anything. Most Tafe's will not take somebody on unless they have an Australian Recognised Trades Certificate or ARTC.

Yes they are the modern equivalent of the 236, the qualifications are also what modern 4 year apprentices receive on completion of their courses, except that they also gain AM2 which is a skills...

Just had a phone call from the High Commission in London asking about hubbys employment. But apparently we have had a case officer for sometime, and they said we should have visa soon. Hope so:)
