As far as I know the "clock" starts when you receive the WHV. If you are issued with a 12month visa then it starts the day you get it.

Also the UK has an unlimited amount of WHVs they can issue....

Ah right. It's just that all of the job apps mention that a valid Visa must be held before applying. I'll mention this fact to them from now on.

It did seem quite odd that a Visa was required...
