Re: My thoughts after Alberta research trip

Hi Boogie,

All the houses we went to see were much, much bigger than I expected. In the UK we really do live in shoeboxes. For comparison, my 3 bed bungalow in Bridgend is on the market at £125K...

Oh and by the way......

1. Drumheller Dinosaur Museum was completely fantastic, world-class and well worth a long side-trip out of Calgary (cheers Judy). The dinosaur RV park there has a really nice kids swimming pool.

Good day / bad day

Found out that our house sale will complete, finally, next Friday. (Woo-hoo)
Found out that I'm likely to be made redundant on Monday. (Waaagh)

In Calgary Now

Hi all,

We have been in Calgary 3 days now on a research trip and I would endorse everything in the Alberta Jobs thread. I was approached in a restaurant last night and asked if I knew any...

Re: Help. Coaching "soccer" to the under 6s

Main point which you made yourself is to make it fun. Also, try to involve everyone. Sometimes at that age there are a couple of stars who always have the ball so make it less fun for everyone...

Re: Vent!!

The selling process is a nightmare. I'm flying to Calgary on Thursday for a 2-week trip and our sale should complete in our absence. I hate the fact that I've no control whatsoever and if the buyer...

Re: When did you tell your rellies and friends?

Bit sad really, me and the missus have no parents between us. My brother is in the Boston, Mass and my sister in Oz. My wife's sister is in New York.

Of course the silver lining (can't believe...

Re: Leaving Calgary before we've arrived !!

Re: Leaving Calgary before we've arrived !!

I have to say I'm in the same position as you, although feeling a bit more positive about it in that I'm sure we'll get somewhere around Calgary and - frankly - we've done very well out of the UK...

Re: Cad $

Not that I'm an expert or anything but the implication as I read it is that the tripling of interest rates are all that has stood between the US and an even more dramatic slide in the dollar. What I...

Hi there Almacca,

We're also going over on the 24th of this month, flying from London to Calgary. We're going down to look at Lethbridge mainly cos of the high cost of housing in Calgary, then...
