Re: Can you top this?

Get over yourselves. I don't like over the top patriotism in any country. It's my opinion. Deal with it.

Re: I dont know what to do now..

This homesickness feeling passes/lessens for some and not for others. After 17 years here, I'm firmly in the "not for others" category. I don't know about anybody else, but I feel like I'm in a...

Can you top this?

I understand that most Americans are proud of their country, but this every-other-country-is-third-rate-crap attitude, poorly disguised as U.S. patriotism is almost more than I can handle.

Re: finding schools on our return

Thanks for the info. I know that the U.S. school system is apparently a year behind the U.K., although the U.S. "catch up" during high school, and many times surpass the U.K. But for our kids going...

Re: Outrageous Cost Of Funerals - $10,000!

I completely agree. My FIL was dying for several years and had plenty of time to think and plan and pay for his funeral that there was no reason why we should end up paying for it. However, there was...

Re: Outrageous Cost Of Funerals - $10,000!

Re: Outrageous Cost Of Funerals - $10,000!

MY FIL passed away last year. My husband is one of six kids, but suddenly none of his siblings had any money to help pay for the funeral. Not wanting to upset his mother any more than she already...

Can anyone relate?

I'm a newbie to the BE Forum.

I've lived in the states for 12 years, but stilll have an awful emotional pull to the UK. I'm stuck in the "sandwich" generation of having aging parents in the UK,...
