Re: crunch time !! Sydney or Brisbane

If you can afford to live near a beach in Sydney then go for Sydney, if you are going to end up far away from a beach in Sydney then you may as well live in...

Re: Australian Citizenship - Four Years Residence?

I don't see what this will do from a counter terrorism perspective. If someone is fanatical enough to wait 2 years, then isn't it likely that they will be willing to wait 5 years?

I can completely...

We aren't taking a lot of stuff because a lot of the stuff we have is old and knackered so it isn't worth...

Re: Can I work in New Zealand?

The Australian Resident Return Visa is a totally separate class of visa to a 5 year migrant visa, and you can only apply for the 5 year rrv as opposed to the 3 month rrv if you have been an Oz...

Re: Can I work in New Zealand?

If you are an Australian resident then you need a resident return visa.
You need to have been in Oz for two years in order to qualify for one of these.
So you can work in NZ as an OZ pr, but it...

Our agent had us doing the whole lot - holiday photos, stat decs from people who had been on holiday with us , (as well as all the other stat decs about us being in a relationship).

It probably...

Re: 136 docs to get certified where best to get done

Our local Police did certified copies of our marriage certificate ( we got married after our application), however I doubt if they would be prepared to do the full swathe needed for a full...

Re: Anyone in Oz but being paid from UK in £s?

Nationwide bank don't charge anything for currency conversions. You could just open an account with them, and use the cashpoint/ visa card as and when you need it.

Re: Tax Back

There is a special part of the Inland Revenue that deals with overseas UK taxpayers. There is a form you can fill in and send to them to inform them that you are going overseas, I think once you have...

Re: Agent For Main Visa Yes/no??????

I would only do it if your agent has been good and responsive. If you have one who isn't then it is much more stressful than doing it yourselves.
We didn't get an acknowledgement from DIMIA, after...

Re: Got the visa - sold the house an hour ago but don`t want to go!

I know how you feel.
When we started, we didn't have great jobs, were living in a shared house and were well up for it.
Then 8 months preparation prior to lodging application, and 14 months wait....

Re: Laptop dilema (again)

If you qualify for LAFHA then you may be able to claim Oz tax back on it. As such you may actually be better buying it in Oz.

If not I would go for a Dell - they make so many computers that you...

If you are going for a none MODL 136, I would suggest waitting 6 months...

I have enough IT...

You have a permanent residence elsewhere (i.e. the UK) which you intend to return to,
The job is the reason for your being there (i.e. if you are...
