God knows! Perhaps they merely bounce when thrown from cars, without the satisfying 'smash' the throwers seem to crave, so have less after-sale value.

Couldn't agree more! The standard of driving in Perth is terrible.
As far as I can recall there are signs all along the the roads with numbers on them....don't drive faster than the number says...
