Ref. your para re interest from British citizens. Another IB forum I subscribe to has British residents (on both sides of the argument) constantly banging on about the EU! Much to my annoyance!

And the cost was my aside! My real point was that the UK passport system is not representative of UK bureaucracy (Government & otherwise).

I'm not sure that the UK passport system (by the way at over double the cost of the Hungarian ID) is a representative example of UK bureaucracy!

Yes, just a year but so easy to replace - I used them right through the '80s for half a dozen European trips - those were the days!

He was definitely thinking the window opens inwards!

So our (inward opening) bedroom window has an externally fixed fine mesh screen, with a ceiling fan and the window open we can manage the heat...
