Regarding isolation I think there is a difference between the isolation of the country (no doubt New Zealand is even more isolated than Australia) and the isolation of the town you actually live in....

I was not surprised one bit, that Darwin is isolated, hot, humid, full of bugs, full of unmotivated people etc. But I thought I could put up with it for the sake of my hubby who had and has great job...
