This all came along quite quickly from a discussion with our head of sales, I've simply been told this is in-line with their objectives and a 'sit-down' has been arranged...

Thank you, I will do some research into an L-1 visa.

This would be my preferred option anyway, rather than having to switch to a firm who already has a presence in the US.
