Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

No. British born. Egyptian dad who was born there but obviously that doesn't count.
Ah well. Thanks for the help. Guess I will just have to learn some trade or become a world renowned master of...

Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

Couldn't see anything about a date on there? Out of time for this year obviously anyway.

Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

Thanks for the update. I did have a look and it went from 2nd October until 5th November off the top of my head. So out of date this year but certainly one to keep an eye on for next year! I don't...

Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

How much health insurance cost in the US? I don't imagine for a second it's cheap!

Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

Good to know. I'm sure I couldn't even afford the treatment for a broken leg without it!

Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

If the business were an option then it would be an E-2 visa. That would be the plan anyway. Not sure I could start a business with only a B2 visa?

Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

A trip to Clearview Horse Farm may well be on the table then!

Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

I was thinking travel insurance as an option? If you aren't resident but just have leave to stay for an extended period of time, would that not be an option? And if it's not, how much does health...

Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

I like to be optimistic whilst maintaining as much of a grip on reality at the same time. So if it does go belly up then you're right, we could have the whole infrastructure there to start someone up...

Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

And just when I was thinking I'd started to get a very slight handed ion it all, it all slips through my fingers and I'm back where I started!

I think I shall become a regular visitor to the...

Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

You are probably right there. My skills won't transfer across and by the time I'm hitting retirement they wouldn't want me to do that kind of work anyway!

So she is likely to be the one earning...

Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

That would end up as my job, the missus is useless with dogs. Sue can deal with the horses, I'll deal with the dogs. And can employ people to do the hair cutting, nail trimming and all that side of...

Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

I see. So, as an example, a high level riding instructor could fit into that bracket then? Obviously there are plenty of riding instructors but if she specialised in, say, teaching people with...

Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

I've not heard of this before? Is it as simple as it sounds? Register and wait for your number to be called like a normal lottery? I'm going to ho and have an investigation of that!

Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

Hi, thanks for your mind message.
I'm trying to think of plan A, B, C, D, E and the rest!
I know for Australia they work on a points system and if you've got a trade they need then you're almost...

Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

Ok. So I get a visa to run a chicken farm for example. Get my E-2. The other half can come with me as a dependant but NOT as a partner on the E-2, and once here can apply for the EAD to get a job in...

Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

That's also a good idea. Another one I hadn't thought of. That would be something I could get behind a bit more than horses though. I know what I'm doing with dogs. It could also be done in...

Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

That makes sense. Got to show that you are willing to risk a significant amount of money in order to prove your willingness to make a life in the country. And can contribute meaningfully to the local...

Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

Very expensive is what I have taken from everyone. Might see if there's a way to get sponsorship for some of mine, or the missus, skills. Mine are rather select though so probably not. She has the...

Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

Thanks Noorah101,
So $100k for an E2 visa which would allow you to open a business and show that you can bring some local jobs and employment for people in the area and then it would be something...

Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

I'd just like to know, if anyone does, the cost of actually putting the paperwork through and applying for the visa. So the legal side I guess that is?
Does a visa like that require some kind of...

Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

How much do these visas cost? Does anyone have a ball park figure? Or am I not allowed to ask that on here?

Re: Trying to buy land in America, hopefully Arizona.

It probably is moot but with the missus experience, she may be able to get a job and then I can piggy back on her visa. If that's even an option??
