You can get your NIE before you arrive, we did. Not sure about the swap however - I was told today we have to go to our Gestor in person first, with our licenses.

Just successfully made the move to Spain (permanently hopefully), wife and I registered as autonomo. We have 2 UK companies, one of which has 4 employees (including us), the other just 2 for now...

Interesting to see you say this - I am in the same position as the OP. In the UK, we pay ourselves small salaries and take the rest as dividends. In Spain, I was thinking we might pay ourselves...
