I'm guessing this email, and the number of long-haul (100+ day) outliers who are starting to get decisions, indicates that 'not-straightforward' applications have finally been taken out of the IGNORE...

One has to apply from one's passport-issuing country. As it happens I haven't lived in mine for almost twenty years. Other than some very patient friends and family I don't have any ties here.

Yes, that seems right, can't imagine visa4uk is hooked directly into the UKVI processing database (they just collect a fee to send the docs and do the biometrics). "In active" isn't even correct...
