Just got confirmation that the contact centre don’t have access to the tracking details. Obviously, Sheffield does but they don’t want to bother the poor civil servants until the 10 days expires. ...

UKVI's performance standard is 10 working days, after which you can escalate. My migration agent has seen 3-5 working days for clients here in Australia.

Essentially, the government wants the immigration system to be self funding. So our visa fees cross subsidise border security and immigration control.

According to BiP's advice I've observed elsewhere, it should be 0 for my daughter. She's a biological child of a British citizen so has indefinite leave to enter if I understand his advice correctly.
