Simple solution to this problem. I did it myself.

Fly to Dublin (not UK) with your dog or cat. Take a ferry to the UK and you are home free with your pet.

You’ll pay the extra tax, anywhere in the official NYC city limits you’ll pay this extra income tax.

NJ is a different state across the Hudson River from NYC.

It’s a no brainer if you work in construction. Australia is a mostly empty but growing country which has so much potential. It’s vast coastline is largely undeveloped.

It all depends on the industry, whether Sydney would be better than New York for you. For most professional careers the United States wins out.

Sounds like you have accepted that your employer has the upper hand and you are ok with that in order to stay in the USA.

I would do the same as you, if my alternative was going back to a third...

That is rough, sorry to hear that. What I find is that the power balance is overwhelmingly in the employers favor when a visa/sponsorship is involved. Not everyone is prepared for the drop in power...

Yes I will be employable in the U.K. or the US. You may be right on all these points.

There was an article recently in the BBC, it mentions “sunk costs” and it basically spoke to me.

It matters a hell of a lot whether you are a USC or a visa holder.

Visa holders don’t have the freedom to switch jobs easily, buy property without fear of being kicked out, their kids cannot go to...

Just want to warn anybody that is thinking of getting a visa to come to the USA. It isn't all it's cracked up to be....

You'll end up working for the same company, that company will rip you off....

The promise of a green card, great prospects in tech and the ability to live and work for Apple, Microsoft or anybody else anywhere in the country. Things started out well, got worse over time.

Costs a lot more in NYC. Additional fees and taxes, on-top of 9% sales tax and extremely high demand every weekend because nobody can afford their own car :thumbsup:
