Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

The lack of home ties refusal has been a mechanism that the consulate has used since basically forever - it's a catchall that means the actual reason doesn't have to be disclosed. Whenever complex...

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

Accurate of what? Again, your thoughts on what? It's a general post in response to no-one in particular. It's a series of questions, some of which are applicable to the process of obtaining a waiver,...

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

Do we not? I don't believe you speak for me and I quite regularly provide advice to that effect. This is a community forum. The content on this board is purely decided by individual contributors, so...

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

Far be it for me to discourage you from stepping away but just to illustrate my point a bit, even though jools has done a very good job of educating you on the differences already, you opened with...

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

It is vastly different, yes, because they are completely independent countries with different laws. I am not going to spend time educating you. I am merely pointing out that you should reconsider...

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

There's a lot of misinformation in your post which makes it rather unhelpful in this thread. You even state you have no experience with this process and compare it to another nation's.

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

I am more and more convinced of my theory that there has been a quiet policy change/memo sent out that means waivers being granted will become very much the exception rather than the rule as they...

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

Did the wording explicitly say they decided not to recommend him for one, or did it say he was not granted one by the DHS? To be honest the outcome is largely the same and the next step is large the...

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

I have indeed considered things like this, and I was not insinuating that this is because of a "backlog". Quite the contrary, actually.

There have been several cases on this forum over the years...

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

Occam's razor dictates there has almost certainly been a quiet policy change in light of everything else going on with US Imimgration right now. There have been very long backlogs before and this is...

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

39 days keeping your passport is ridiculous, I have to say. Glad you got it in the end, and I know we see some frustrating stuff from the Consulate on this forum, but that bit really takes the...

Re: E2 Visa For a Cafe or Fast Food Shop

I'll try and answer the spirit of OP's question here - others have made valid observations about what the E-2 is actually like to live on, but this is an attempt to actually answer the question quite...

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

I put mine through the washing machine without having used it. Trust me, it f****** hurts. Don't lose it!

Re: L1 VISA TO E2 SPOUSE

Are there any more specific questions? The process itself is simple.

I still wouldn't do it though, you lose one of the few routes that exist to permanent residency.

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

The US Government would rather people apply transparently through this route than not. If NIV Waivers cost $1100 to the applicant then the number of illegal attempts to enter will skyrocket, and...

Re: Non immigration B2 visa drug caution

I am surprised to see debate on this as it's pretty clear, and S Folinsky is quite correct, a caution prior to 2008 does not necessarily render you ineligible.

Irrespective of what the ex coppers...

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

It's a fair assumption, yes, but ultimately those date fields are aimed at people that don't have an ineligibility and from countries with high risk of overstays. The 5 year multi entry visa that is...

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

As unhelpful as the comment I am about to say is, the reality is this: visas are a priveledge and not a right. You self admit a "colourful" past and didn't expect to get a visa at all. It sounds like...

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

Very strange. As far as I'm aware, 5 years is the maximum visa length for anyone that required a waiver. So, it would seem either you were deemed not to need a waiver in the end, or someone has made...

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

Passport returned 20 days after sending, which included the easter weekend, 5 year waiver in hand. Phew. Note to self: don't put your passport through the washing machine again.

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

Finally just had my email, interview 18th of August 2023, so 221 days.

My fourth waiver, and by quite some distance my longest ever wait.

Congrats to Georgy btw, what a stroke of luck.

What was the exact date of the caution? I wonder if this would have been an alternative and smoother path for you:...

Re: E2 Spouse: very easy to get approved to work

A very useful and sensible decision!

The EAD wait (and cost let's face it) for my partner was a real pain, plus the regular renewal process etc.

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

I would argue that putting data from 2015 in that spreadsheet significantly pollutes everything else. The value is surely getting a sense of current timeframes?
