Re: IRS Declaração - Currency Conversion

Resubmit them.

There is no way of them knowing the amount you received in £, unless there is an investigation.

In Modelo 3 you put the amount in €, not in £. So I see no way of them...

Re: IRS Declaração - Currency Conversion

I mean, did AT officially amend Modelo 3, or did they notify you that your calculations were not correct.

Or did you just have a Liquidação showing a liability which differed from your own...

Re: 10 years to gain Citizenship

In Portugal ofc.

Our Irish brethren are already approaching the Swiss levels, so not worried about them 🙏

Re: 10 years to gain Citizenship

Unfortunately, Solvit only works for EU citizens, and I was able to use it because I also have an EU passport. The UK left the Solvit network at the end of 2020....

Re: 10 years to gain Citizenship

By default, nationality by naturalization is always granted as a concession, it is not a right.

They just made a huge issue out of a non-issue, although they could have achieved what they wanted...

Re: UK Pension income question

Keep trying whenever in doubt.
It costs nothing and you have evidence of their responses

And it's the farthest from Kent.

Re: 10 years to gain Citizenship

Had to contact Solvit at the end. And took a month after that.

Re: UK Pension income question

AT is perhaps the only public institution in Portugal which responds the same day, usually within a couple of hours.
Much better to ask them if in any doubt.

Re: 10 years to gain Citizenship

Fine. Even if true, this is all irrelevant to the original debate about reciprocity.

I couldn't care less if Portugal has always been a country of emigration. I do care however that they appear...

Re: 10 years to gain Citizenship

It was.
Perhaps it's only valid about Tuguese. Their numbers in the UK continue to increase, while the number of Bris in Portugal does not seem to be growing 😎

Re: 10 years to gain Citizenship

Why not.
We've previously agreed that for every 10 Tugas in the UK, there is 1 Brit in Portugal.
If both countries would impose a 10-year wait, the ratio of 1:10 would still be the same, and may...

Re: 10 years to gain Citizenship

Agreed.
My position from the very start is that should Portugal impose 10 years requirement for British citizens who would like to obtain Portuguese nationality, then HMG should reciprocate.
As...

As with anything feito em Portugal, I expect huge success of those measures, and, naturally, inclusion into "How to better shoot oneself in the leg" bestseller 🤭

Re: 10 years to gain Citizenship

A slight issue is that the potential applicants for citizenship are divided into a) from Portuguese speaking countries - 7 years, and b) from any other country, including France, Germany, UK - 10...

Re: 10 years to gain Citizenship

I'm not disputing that.

I just think that Portugal would hardly be the first choice if a Brit wants to get an EU passport. Or if he wants to live anywhere in the EU, for that matter 🤭

Re: 10 years to gain Citizenship

Re: 10 years to gain Citizenship

And I still have both UK and EU passports, thanks for caring 🤭
