My application was received on March 7 and I have not heard a peep out of them since. Checking the website, processing times have blown out to 10 to 14 months average. I called but they do not...

Not sure what an 820 visa is exactly, but most temporary visas do not allow you to be covered by Medicare do they? I had to provide full private cover for myself when I was on a 457 visa.

For $700/week you should be able to find a nice place in many suburbs with good schools near(ish) to the city.

For very good to excellent public schools - south of the river I would be looking at...
