Re: meeting income reqt through cash/savings

Still different opinions, as you can see. It seems possible, as Mike said, to liquidate stocks just before the application and therefore have the cash requirement in the savings account. The danger...

Re: NEED HELP! WHICH TEST DO I BOOK

I think you are (understandably) getting confused between the regular IELTS exam and the Life Skills exam. The regular IELTS exam has two different modules, Academic and General Training, and they...

Re: MERGED: Spouse Visa Issues with Sheffield +Spouse Visa Chat Thread.

I emailed after about 80 days, then got a non-straightforward email.

Re: MERGED: Spouse Visa Issues with Sheffield +Spouse Visa Chat Thread.

We also did biometrics on May 29. Got the visa today. Hang in there!

Re: Sheffield Settlement Visa +90 Day Delays

No, I was about to get my MP involved. I emailed UKVI one time (one case, actually a few emails). I had to persist as they initially tried a copy and paste response. From that I found out the app was...

Cheers. I'm sure your wait will be over soon.

Re: MERGED: Spouse Visa Issues with Sheffield +Spouse Visa Chat Thread.

We included a copy of my passport information page. I don't remember why, but we thought that was needed. I probably got it off this forum, as it was much more useful than the UKVI guidelines.

Re: Sheffield Settlement Visa +90 Day Delays

Successful. Thank goodness!!

So glad this awful wait is over. Very best wishes to all those still waiting.

Re: Sheffield Settlement Visa +90 Day Delays

No, nothing from UKVI. I think MonsterP (also China) had the same thing.

Re: Sheffield Settlement Visa +90 Day Delays

Just got an email from the VAC saying the passport is ready to pickup. Yet more stress waiting to see the result! But at least an answer.

Re: Sheffield Settlement Visa +90 Day Delays

I've kind of lost track of how many days. I thinks it's about 97 - no more news other than that our application seems to be at the Beijing embassy.

Re: Pre-Dated Vignette

Interesting that the vignette is dated from the day they said your app is not straightforward!

The time allowed (basically 25 days) clearly assumes that everyone is simply sitting waiting to...

Re: Accommodation question

Perhaps the 'will be' refers to rental contracts.

Re: MERGED: Spouse Visa Issues with Sheffield +Spouse Visa Chat Thread.

Those figures don't include any cases they consider not straightforward. They can (and clearly do) simply label cases as not straightforward when they approach 60 days. Even the stats within that...

Re: MERGED: Spouse Visa Issues with Sheffield +Spouse Visa Chat Thread.

It's interesting to see such variance in the performance of the different embassies. Bangkok seems to be doing fantastically well at cleaning up the Sheffield/HO/UKVI mess.

Re: Sheffield Settlement Visa +90 Day Delays

From anecdotal evidence, it does seem like applications from countries that are considered high-risk are more likely to be delayed, but there have also been plenty of people from places like the...

Re: Spouse Visa Applications from China

Here's a post that backs up the idea that being labelled non-straightforward is actually the normal experience at the moment:

Re: Sheffield Settlement Visa +90 Day Delays

We've joined the seemingly dwindling band of 90+ day people, as we are now at 94 days. Hopefully none of us are going to be here much longer. It's irritating to see many non-priority cases being...

Congratulations! I was wondering what had happened to you. Well done to your MP, too.

Re: Spouse Visa Applications from China

I'm pretty sure the 'not straightforward' excuse is used for all cases when they go beyond 60 days. If they don't say 'not straightforward' then they would have to offer another reason for why it...

Re: MERGED: Spouse Visa Issues with Sheffield +Spouse Visa Chat Thread.

Bangkok really seem to be getting through the outstanding cases. Well done to the embassy there.

It would be good if there might be a reassessment of the longer-term decision to onshore this work...
