Re: Car leasing in BC

Thanks both. Must admit I am now inclined to budgetting $5-10k and buying something well look after. It's planned as a two year stint only and I don't think we can afford the expense of leasing, but...

Re: Car leasing in BC

Yes, starting to think this is possibly the most expensive option. Might be better to just buy a cheaper car initially.

Re: Car leasing in BC

Exactly, I've had my eye on something with extra seats for a while now. Would probably go 7 seat if we stay in the UK as well, as current car is on last legs.

An excellent point :-)

Re: Car leasing in BC

I've always driven Fords in the UK with a similar "low hassle" experience. Love the idea of an Escape (hired one (well, a Kuga) here recently), but if there is a chance of keeping it long term need...

Re: Car leasing in BC

We don't expect to drive much - living in Vancouver and with me working from home, it'll mainly be my wife driving the kids around and family trips at weekends. So leasing definitely seems to make...

Re: Car leasing in BC

Yep, I must admit that's a competing instinct with the leasing one. Know it will save me a lot of money.

Car leasing in BC

We're moving to BC for two years with my work this summer. As it's only intended to be a two year stint (although it may turn permanent) I'm thinking leasing a car is the simplest option.

At the...

Re: Suggestions for BC areas to look at

Thanks. I think we need to put Victoria back on the list as a possibility, think we dismissed it too quickly.

Re: Suggestions for BC areas to look at

Five or six I believe, one in Vancouver and the rest more central / east. I had read that guidance before.

Appreciate you checking that I'm not just naively assuming I can move, but suggestions...

Re: Suggestions for BC areas to look at

Yes, they've spoken to their immigration lawyers (based in the US) and been advised it should be possible. They have a number of canadian customers that I would be working with.

Re: Suggestions for BC areas to look at

I should qualify for a TPW as an intra company transferee through my work ('m both managerial level and have specialist knowledge). Assuming the recce trip is a success, we'll put the application in...

Re: Brexit and Canada

Yes, good advice. We're not naive about this - we've seriously looked at Melbourne, Austin and France in the past and for various reasons not done it - and know it might not work. We're trying to...

Re: Brexit and Canada

As someone who is considering moving to Canada, campaigned for Remain and is probably still in shock at what Brexit has showed me about my English campatriots, certainly moving to a place which is...

Suggestions for BC areas to look at

My wife and I are considering moving to BC with our two boys, two and five, and planning a recce trip in a month or so. Things that are important to us are

1. A less pressured education system...
