Re: Mincemeat, Where Art Thou?

Okay, so I went ahead and made the mincemeat with my 2-year-old jar. No stomach irregularities yet. They were delicious, albeit a bit sweeter than I remember. Maybe the fermentation caused that....

Re: Mincemeat, Where Art Thou?

I think I'll bite the bullet with this jar for now. The button lid is still down. How bad can it be? :D

Mincemeat, Where Art Thou?

Does anyone know where you can buy mincemeat in stores? I realize that it's after Christmas, but I didn't even think about them this year until now, and the jar that I have in the cupboard is two...

Re: UK Foods in the US Share your finds!

I just found Hobnobs in the Publix store in Winston Salem (NC). I have also rekindled my love for them.

Re: Tips for Trader Joes

We buy the vast majority of our meat there. Getting quality meat in the USA isn't as easy as I remember it being in the UK. Everything is so fatty (and antibiotic-laden), but the meat at Trader Joes...

Re: Fitness...do you?

Yeah, it's just the aftermath that gets really expensive, and having blood tests that result in diagnosis for a disease would make getting insurance substantially harder, I would imagine. Anyway,...

Re: Fitness...do you?

I eat well, and have fairly low stress compared to most people (I think). I've had a lot of upper abdominal pains, especially after eating, but I'm not insured, and I'm a bit afraid of one potential...

Re: Fitness...do you?

I was exercising, but I stopped because I can't seem to stop losing weight. That sounds like a joke, but it's really not. I lost 30 lbs. in the past six months, and now that I'm down to 115 lb., I...

Re: Renewing British Passport and the Sizes of Passport Photos

Okay, so it turns out that US passport photos and UK versions are a different size. Typical. So, now I am not sure where to get a 35mm x 45mm photo developed. The search begins..

Re: Renewing British Passport and the Sizes of Passport Photos

Thanks. I did read the recent thread, but it didn't answer either of my two questions, and I didn't want to hijack it. In any case, I'll do some searching.

Renewing British Passport and the Sizes of Passport Photos

I need to renew my British passport, which has been expired for more than a few years. The main thing that I'm not sure about is whether US passport photos are the same size as UK passport photos. I...

Re: Brit in North Carolina, USA

I like Winston. It's a fairly big city, but it feels like a small city. Compared to places like Raleigh and Charlotte, the overall attitudes and ease of driving are exceptional. Despite the somewhat...

Re: Real English Fish and Chips in KS ?

I could never stand mushy peas. I'm traveling to Washington D.C. soon and the one thing that I can't find is a fish and chip shop that also serves curry sauce. Now that would be awesome, and curry...

Do English Muffins Exist In England

I left England 10 years ago, when I was 16. Shortly after arriving here in the US, I began noticing "English Muffins", of which I was entirely unfamiliar, despite the name enigma.

I'm not sure if...

Re: Brit in North Carolina, USA

I'll do that, although I didn't come here with parents. Four days after I turned 16 (and was old enough to fly alone), I flew 3,500 miles to the U.S. to escape my abusive father -- to meet someone...

Brit in North Carolina, USA

Hi everyone;

I don't really want anything. I'm just here to socialize for the most part. I am 25. I've been living in North Carolina for almost ten years. Before that I lived in Sheffield,...
