My husband and I are going through the process without an attorney, and it's fine because our case is pretty straight forward (no overstays, no criminal records, no prior marriages/children, etc.)...

Well, I still don't think you do, but that's not really the issue. I guess a lot of it depends on the competency of the workers, but as long as you are in their computer system, it shouldn't take...
