You should ask the town hall / water company, or just listen to the locals :)

I do not think that there is a difference in cost of living in rural areas vs villages/towns. The prices are the same... (if no rent involved)

You do not need to be self-employed, you just need to get a tax number.
Also for accounting, it is quite simple to do the paperwork, however the form is in Hungarian, so that is why you will need...

Yes, it is quite understandable that the personal and family situation should be taken into account - a family with 6 children is definitely not equal with a single person :)

Thanks for the quick reply. This 6000 does not sound very strict - I was guessing much higher requirement.

I have asked already the 6000 EUR, but also would like to know where that 600/month is written? Because it would be useful to know an exact number, but I have never found it anywhere...
