Re: Mortgage for Landlord living abroad

We don't all have the luxury of internatonal property knowledge. I bought the house to live in originally, and then moved to the US for marriage. I wanted to keep my house 1. in case I needed...

Re: Mortgage for Landlord living abroad

Who did you remortgage with (and how did you remortgage without officially telling them you live abroad)?

I'm struggling - my fixed term has ended. I know there is a Skipton International that...

Re: Mortgage for Landlord living abroad

Thanks. I just wish the pound was better right now, this is not a great time to sell.

I am currently in the process of selling another UK property at a significant loss, and I really don't want to...

Re: Mortgage for Landlord living abroad

Thanks. But wouldn't the sale of the house now cripple me tax-wise also in both countries?

Also, how does CGT for expats differ from CGT for UK residents?

Thanks.

Re: Mortgage for Landlord living abroad

Thanks, yes it is a UK property.

I would certainly prefer that option; however my reason for wishing to remortgage is that my fixed term has come to an end, and the cost of my monthly payment now...

Mortgage for Landlord living abroad

I moved to the US earlier this year (I was already approved for letting by my mortgage provider). But I did not tell the lender that I was moving abroad, as I knew I would be without income for...

Re: i-131 form??

It wants to know the planned date of departure (space for one date only) and then in a later question it asks whether it is for single or multiple trips! Go figure..

i-131 form??

Hello

I entered the USA on a K-1 visa and married my fiancee last week.

We are now filling out the AOS forms, and I have a question about the i-131 advance parole form.

From speaking to...

Re: Child of UK+US lesbian couple

Thanks, although I believe it is more straightforward in the UK than the US. The 2nd parent formally 'adopting' the child as well as being named on the birth certificate and involved in the...

Re: Child of UK+US lesbian couple

Thanks both. Yes I meant if the child is born in the US. I didn't know if being born in the US automatically meant the child would be a US citizen.

Child of UK+US lesbian couple

I am a British expat (not US citizen) and my wife is American.

Re: Please help: Consent to let from mortgage company and earning money from the UK?

I know, but I was only so relaxed because last time I spoke to them about it in principle they were just like "yes of course that won't be a problem, just let us know a couple of months before you...

Re: Please help: Consent to let from mortgage company and earning money from the UK?

Thanks for your reply.

I told him that I was moving abroad, but not specifically that I was quitting my job. But I think he would have guessed that. Anyway, the interviewer won't be the same...

Please help: Consent to let from mortgage company and earning money from the UK?

Firstly, I'm sorry if my question is stupid, or if it is posted in the wrong place.

I currently own (with mortgage) a property in the UK that I plan to let out when I move to the US on a K1 Visa....

I'm sorry if this is posted in the wrong section, but as far as I know this is associated with K1 visa and I don't mean to cause any disruption to the forum.

Anyway, I was wondering what...

Re: How early to arrive at US Embassy London for interview?

There were two different queues so I went straight to the woman at the front just to ask which queue to stand in, and she just said she would check me in right then. So I didn't even have to queue!...

Also, this is the marriage...
