Yes I know I'm limited to condo - and the $US50k is held by the government for 30 days before being allowed to be released into property....

So whatever happens - I want to come to the Philippines (Call me mad).

I'll be coming on the SRRV visa - where the deposit is put into property. So I need to choose where to live quite carefully....

Two very opposite viewpoints :) Interesting comparison. I'd go with the second approach personally. Locking yourself inside behind 23 locks holding pepper spray and an air rifle just wouldn't do it...

Does anyone on the boards have any experience of obtaining the SRRV visas? Particularly the option which you deposit USD50k and then transfer it into property 30 days later?
