Re: Shipping from UK to Canada

One possible option is to simply courier the boxes by air freight. I shipped 14 boxes (1ft x 1ft x 1.5ft), totalling 200Kg, and the cost was the same as freight, but it took 4 days rather than 8...

Re: Initial PR Card Status

Seems to be a common issue these days, my photos were perfectly fine but I had to get them redone in Canada due to the same reason - non compliant photo.

Still waiting for my PR Card, resubmitted...

Re: Air freight - goods to follow

I did this only a couple of weeks ago, I had few enough belongings that sending everything by fedex* was cheaper than shipping by boat and waiting many weeks.

However, once the items arrived at...

Re: PR Landing

@Shakyuk - when I came to Canada to do my landing, I booked a flight to Vancouver but it was indirect (cheaper) and stopped in Calgary first. At immigration they told me I had to do the landing there...

Re: Initial PR Card Status

Firstly, in my original post I meant to say VFS, not VSO, sorry for any confusion. Search for VFS global and go to the UK site, it has information on there.

Use this checklist:...

Re: Initial PR Card Status

I got a PRTD a few weeks ago, I thought it was only a single use document but instead they gave me a multiple entry PRTD valid for 2 years.

Given the delays people seem to be having with PR Cards...

Re: PR Approved YEE HA!!!!!!

Seems like applications processing times have speeded up during 2017 (generally speaking, at least according to the Immitracker website). However some are still waiting after 6 months months so it...

Re: Shady immigration company... do I need a Lawyer at all?

I'm sure you're already on top of this, but make sure its the General and not academic exam, the academic will not be valid. Also I'd look at some example questions for the exam online, not knowing...

Re: Shady immigration company... do I need a Lawyer at all?

Another +1 for DIY - it can feel daunting at first but spend the time to understand your options and the respective processes (and of course ask as many questions as you want on forums) and you'll be...

Re: Medicals for Express Entry: High Blood Pressure

My panel physician didnt refer me to a cardiologist, but told me to go see my GP. My GP asked me to book in for an ECG and fasting blood tests (serum creatinine for kidney damage, blood sugar for...

Re: Express Entry Stages and Status

The statuses on the online system can be a bit misleading, the main thing to look for first is 'medical passed', then back ground check in process, then background check not applicable, then...

Re: Express Entry Stages and Status

With CIC, anything is possible! There is nothing concerning with statuses updating in an odd order or slower/quicker than others. The background status of yours is certainly IP2 (as described in my...

Re: PPR received but nowhere to upload documents - help appreciated!

MelVan, Vulcanoid, thanks for the replies.

The email is indeed standard (for London visa office people at least anyway) and says all of the above, I think I just confused myself from from reading...

Re: PPR received but nowhere to upload documents - help appreciated!

Hi,

A few more questions if I may.

1. The instructions in the PPR letter are not 100% clear - When I send the letter with everything included, does it need to contain a return envelope?

2....

Re: PPR received but nowhere to upload documents - help appreciated!

Ok good to know, I only received a direct email about the passport request and nothing via myCIC, agreed it doesn't seem like a particularly well designed/maintained system..

I'll go ahead and...

Re: PPR received but nowhere to upload documents - help appreciated!

Perfect, thanks Vulcanoid.

So was it sufficient to only send everything via post, or did you also have to raise a technical fault with the system so you could upload the docs also?

They do have...

Re: PPR received but nowhere to upload documents - help appreciated!

Ah ok, well worst case I can post it afterwards if they dont accept it in person, it would have only cost me a little bit of time.

On a related note, do you know what the turnaround is once I...

Re: PPR received but nowhere to upload documents - help appreciated!

Yes I've noticed its very flaky, but not being able to upload documents when there's a deadline is ridiculous!

I am planning to go to the visa office on Monday as its near work, and I'll submit...

Re: Express Entry Stages and Status

Very very generally speaking, the process is:

ITA --> AOR --> Medicals passed --> IP1 --> N/A --> IP2 --> PPR

You receive your ITA, and you have 90 days to submit the full application
On...

Re: My EE score has lowered by 6 points

Only partly true. Any change in score due to a birthday is fine (there's an exemption specifically for the case where a birthday would drop you below the score cut-off at the point you received your...

Re: "Acknowledgement of receipt - Application for permanent residence"...Just wait no

I was literally just checking this site.

If you filter by FSW-Outland (or whichever is applicable to you) and sort by e-AOR date, you can see roughly which e-AOR dates are currently having their...

Hi,

Congrats on the ITA - I just submitted my application for PR earlier this week so its fresh in my mind. The list of everything you need is in-built in the system.

Once you log in to the CIC...
