Thanks guys. Just wasn't sure if it's a normal, regular or routine way to change status i.e having to leave and re-enter and if asked stating that the reason for Mexico and re-entering was to change...

Thanks CRG but that looks like or reads to me that you can travel and apply to admission 10 days before the approved status/date on the petition.

What I was after is if there are any guidelines...

I mentioned earlier regarding going from a H2B to VWP status and it looks like that can be done by a short trip out the US and back and the VWP re-entry rules i.e Mexico/Canada don't apply to that. ...

A) Yes, but we all know that US immigration doesn't always bend to what you want. I wasn't sure if the H2B was seen as a one time thing.

Done and dusted. Everything went smoothly today. Very long wait inside the embassy however interview only lasted about a minute, very few questions and was told I was "good to go".

Possible speed...
