Re: Suicide problem in NZ

May I suggest if you're going to trawl through my history you sustain the effort long enough to find the posts I've made in the Australian and other forums? Cheers. Have a great rest of your day.

Re: Suicide problem in NZ

It was like that here for many years but I've noticed a sea change in the last three or four years. Mental health and wellbeing at work are now big issues (Australia is still a long way behind the UK...

Re: Suicide problem in NZ

I was on my way out through the door when I spotted your post. In New Zealand we lost a family friend to suicide and the kids lost a couple of their of their mates from school.

Re: Bad long quake.

:goodpost:

Unfortunately I can attest to tough talk not being an effective approach. Not long after we left New Zealand a family friend (British man married to a New Zealander who'd lived in...

Re: Flying Auckland to Dubai, 20hrs on a A380

I've used the Emirates A380 route from Australia to Britain via Dubai a few times since it started up.

Great seats, lots of leg room, ok-ish food, good film and TV catalogue, pleasant travel...

Re: Bad long quake.

No they don't, native Kiwis don't have your attitude. They lie awake at night and worry about their safety and their kids safety just like everyone else does. If they didn't there'd be no need for...

Re: Leaving Auckland...

Anyway. I'm off now.

Just passed by to see if anything has changed in NZ since I left (where there's life there's hope). It hasn't.

Great to call in and catch up with you all.

All the best....

Re: Should we move before she completes her GCSES

YES!!! she should do them because if you/she decide to go back to the UK she'll have to play catch up. Rule #1 #2 #3 of being an immigrant :

1. Never burn bridges

2. Always have a back-up plan...

Re: Leaving Auckland...

I recall doing something similar, toured around looking for somewhere that suited. Didn't find it so knuckled down and got on with things. Then an opportunity came up to move to Australia so we gave...

Re: what to take with me to nz when we move

For the larger ticket items you can usually haggle for far more than a 10% discount, never pay full price at places like Harvey Normans. I bought a phone in (an Aussie) Harvey Norman store priced at...

Re: Life style compare uk to nz

IMO Its better in the UK mate - more freedoms there and better access to the great outdoors, things like food are as cheap as chips too which helps heaps. I found the lifestyle in NZ way more...

Re: what to take with me to nz when we move

Ever thought of not bringing anything except the essentials? Leave it all in storage until you're sure you're staying. I can't believe people are still shipping their stuff half way round the world...

Re: what to take with me to nz when we move

I think you're getting 2400 kw mixed up with 240 volts. Appliances don't run on watts, they consume watts. Besides which if you did have something that was rated 2400 kw you'd probably take out the...
