The "caisse" they would pay into is the CMU by paying the subscriptions based on income. As I said earlier going and talking to them will sort out how to sort it out.

You don't have to be on a low income to subscribe to the CMU, you can simply pay, getting in without having to pay is another kettle of fish.

Unless you get your health cover by paying in to the Couverture Maladie Universelle (CMU) system, or you have lived in France long enough to be covered by CMU for free.
