Re: American Express Global Transfer = SUCCESS

Moved to the US in January. Both myself and my partner have UK amex cards and applied online for US cards. The US online application doesn't seem to let you put in a UK card number so after we...

Re: Review of Vancouver after 18 months

At the Queen Elizabeth theatre, where all the Broadway touring shows are held, they have numerous signs around the bar stating that "alcoholic drinks are limited to 2 per person". I have never seen...

Re: Review of Vancouver after 18 months

That is a fair comment. You are right, if people like the way their city is, who am I to say it should be different. It just wasn't the city for me. Different strokes for different folks etc. :)

Re: Review of Vancouver after 18 months

This is a bit of a cop out imo. Many North American cities that are no older than Vancouver can compete with European cities on nightlife and in many areas of culture (music/theatre/museums etc.)....

Re: Review of Vancouver after 18 months

Well Dublin does offer more than London and NYC in terms of mountains and nature nearby but I don't think it is on the same scale as what Vancouver offers e.g. there is definitely no skiing! But like...

Re: Review of Vancouver after 18 months

I agree that comparing it to NYC or London is unfair. Although I did make a point in comparing it to Dublin, where I lived for 6 years, and is a very similar size to Vancouver. Dublin is a...

Re: Review of Vancouver after 18 months

One million % agree with this. I told my parents that there would be almost zero point to visit in Winter because they are too old to ski and really the city offers very little of interest indoors to...

Re: Review of Vancouver after 18 months

Good point. I found that the people who got super defensive when someone criticised Vancouver were by in large people who had never lived outside BC/Alberta. Most Canadians who have lived in other...

Re: Green Card Approved

I actually just posted my thoughts on Vancouver in the Canada thread. I think Vancouver has lots of pros and lots of cons and it suits some people more than others. I def agree that it is great for...

Review of Vancouver after 18 months

This might not be of interest to anyone but I am going to share my thoughts on Vancouver in case it helps anyone thinking of moving there. I lived there for 18months with my partner after spending 8...

Re: Any Green Card experts out there?

Yes. My feeling at the time was that the whole thing was a bit of a farce, a "for show" exercise one has to go through to get the LC. That said my company was genuinely finding it hard to recruit...

Re: Any Green Card experts out there?

My understanding is that, atm, it makes little difference as EB3 visa numbers are close to current for everyone except those from India/Mexico/Philippines and China. If you are from one of those...

Re: Any Green Card experts out there?

Everything I've read in terms of recent people's experience in London and abroad is that it takes about six months for consular processing. I have read it can take up to 12 months but I think that is...

Re: Any Green Card experts out there?

Yeah but most of the h1b fees were refunded when I wasn't selected. They maybe lost $3k in lawyer fees. Anyway you have missed h1b for this year so green card would make more sense (even if you were...

They actually did...
