Re: How much racism is there towards Brit Asians?

That's one for the books. Yes , I certain don't keep quiet either esp when it involves affluent bratty Arab youth they usually act the innocent while generally complying.

Re: Teacher starting new post in Dubai - September 2015

I think the answer must be in this document somewhere :

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/381705/rdr3_1_.pdf

It's a long read but I will look into it.

If one is a homeowner, then you suggest one's visits back to the UK must be even fewer, am that correct ? Is there a link you can provide that gives an indication of the most number of days...

Re: Is buying property, as opposed to renting, for Expats in Abu Dhabi a real option

Interesting point. I wonder also what the red tape is in so far as selling such a property. Can such "bought-but-really-only-long-term-leased" properties be sold on ? Or is the reality that you are...

Yes and no doubt any...

Re: Do almost all villas in Abu Dhabi have marble floors ?

200k AED for an on-island somewhat central 4 bed villa seems relatively reasonable. In Khalidya village , another gated community they are currently 220-240k.

2 must-haves for me are central AC...

Re: Is buying property, as opposed to renting, for Expats in Abu Dhabi a real option

Hmm, what to do to circumvent the greed of landlords, not a lot it seems. So-called "buying" seems to be another loaded issue. The cost of "buying" would be inconsequential for the super-rich with...

Is buying property, as opposed to renting, for Expats in Abu Dhabi a real option ?

Question as above , assuming an expat is NOT here for the short term.

Has anyone gone the purchase route and if so , would it make financial sense ?

I gather expatriates from non-GCC countries...
