In my opinion there is no debate, I have been painting man and boy and have not found a better widely available gloss finish
than Dulux trade gloss. Their undercoat leaves a bit to be desired...

Great question not a lot you can do during painting process. If areas being painted are well prepared/cleaned and dust/particle free then it is only airborne dust settling on wet paint.

No they are two different products. Stabilizer is used to harden up loose/flaky/sandy stone/cement work as name suggests it is used to stabilize unstable areas
Primer will not do the same...

I have never agreed with thinning paint unless it says so in the instructions as thinning causes paint to lose some of its proprieties coverage, durability, longevity etc

I've have always found a fixed price is better all round, takes away the uncertainty customer has piece of mind knowing complete costs before works commence and I know what I am working too.

I agree priming is an extra expense but cheaper than repainting house !!
As for the "jack of all trades" would you feel happier and more confident knowing a fully experienced trade man was doing...
