We used to have wood burners in France, altho they didn't do water and heating, but they gave off such a lovely heat. We didn't spend that much on wood either, it was about 45€ per cubic metre,...

Thanks for the links! Its a minefield! We're in Lourinha, just north of Lisbon, and we (obviously) have it, plus my in-laws have it in Figueira da Foz - so that's 2 towns I know of!
