Re: BuckBoys NZ observations - moved from - Emigrating from Kent to Auckland

Can i just say. I get really annoyed when people 'compare' countries. I know it is easy to do, but no one place is the same. EVERY country has issues and some pretty major ones. I think if you decide...

Re: We are coming over in January

Stock up on clothes/shoes etc. There isnt the choice here like in the UK and it is generally more expensive.

GOOD LUCK and i hope everything goes well with the move.

Re: Unsettled, anyone else like this?

Maybe it's a nostalgic thing? The UK is where we grew up so I guess always full of memories. A sense of belonging maybe?

Overall I'm settled but the days I really miss my family I feel a huge...

Re: Thinking of NZ - family of 5

Very true, didn't mean for it to sound like moving to NZ would be a disappointment, lol! Maybe try not compare in general as all countries are so different. ;)

Re: Unsettled, anyone else like this?

I'd be interested in seeing how our primary school compares to those in the UK.
NZ did have one of the best education systems and lots of countries modelled on NZ system. Most teachers now do not...

Re: 6 months in and trying to see some positives

Hope things get easier for you. I agree housing in NZ can be shocking. Cold and so damp. We're in Northland and built a new house 2 years ago, we have no heating at all, just double glazing an...

Re: Thinking of NZ - family of 5

I've lived in NZ for 11 years now and my advice would be ensure you choose a warm home. NZ summers are long but one winter in a cold damp house is awful. Either go for a brick house or ensure the...

Re: Unsettled, anyone else like this?

Thanks for the repiies.

Louise, I think we're better off her as I don't think we could have the kind of house and land we have here back in my hometown in the UK. We have a big section and 4...

Hi everyone.

I married a kiwi in 2002 (in the UK) and moved out to NZ in 2003 and have been here ever since.

I LOVE it here, but have recently (maybe since having children, they are 5 and...
