Any midwives here?

Hoping for a little advice. We aren't looking at getting the ball moving for another 6-12 months (praying that the new government don't make it impossible in that time) but wondered if it's worth...

Re: Finally we are doing it!

Thank you escapetonz. I've already made the decision to be a hospital midwife. My job in the uk is caseloading and, while I love it and it would be better paid in nz, the cost to family time isn't...

Re: Finally we are doing it!

Thanks bo jangles. I wouldn't be looking to be a partnership midwife. I do something similar now and the effect on home life is something I'm hoping to get away from! I didn't realise there was...

Re: Finally we are doing it!

I guess it's worth a try. I'm lucky that I have family in nz that can help out with setting up, just hope that it all falls into place and I can get a job in the same area.

Re: Finally we are doing it!

That's good to know! I'm currently surrounded by spreadsheets trying to budget for the next 12 months!

Does anyone know if there is room for salary negotiation when applying for jobs? I know nz...

Re: Finally we are doing it!

We are looking at Southland so hoping that will be a help towards setting ourselves up. Budgeting is in full effect to try and boost that amount.

Re: Finally we are doing it!

Thanks Justcol. We wouldn't have that much but are aiming for $100k providing the housing market stays stable over here.

Re: Finally we are doing it!

There was a lot of talk when I was there during the post election wait. As much as I'd love to apply now, without a job offer, we would fall just below the 160 points and daughter is adamant she...

Question Finally we are doing it!

So, eight years after the family decided against moving to NZ, they've decided that now is the time. I'm now a midwife and have been almost guaranteed a job so we hit the EOI number needed to be...

Re: The Christchurch thread

Going off on a bit of a tangent here but would be grateful for opinion. As a student I ran a bit of a sideline in 'up-cycling' furniture (shabby chic type vintage). I plan to continue this while I...

Re: Hello! Just introducing myself.

That's interestingj19fmm. Did you wait specifically for her to sit her gcse's? I'm torn with our daughter as I don't want to her to take GCSEs if they are not of any use but then she needs exam...

Re: Hello! Just introducing myself.

Thank you for the warm welcome!
It's been a long three years in uni but well worth it. I've wanted to be a midwife since I was 13 so for me it's a win win: Im doing what I always wanted to and it...

Re: Hello! Just introducing myself.

We've visited a few times and always found ourselves returning there. We loved the area, the people and the transport links. The city is beautiful but so far we've only travelled South of chch. I'm...

Hello! Just introducing myself.

After lurking for a while ive taken the plunge and registered.

We've always been interested in swapping our little corner of the valleys for New Zealand but struggled with points for visas. So, I...
