Hi all, I have a TD account here in Canada, should look into the UK TD thing. I didn't even realise you could claim the wire transfer thing in taxes - my bank charges $17.50 to receive a wire...

I'm also in Winnipeg and yes, the winters are fairly brutal (I remember one day with a -52 degree wind-chill a few winters ago, when I was visiting, yet I still moved here) but it doesn't stop anyone...
