rogerpenycate, at least there is one individual here who deferred UK pension and opted for a lump sum relating to the deferral! Sure, it is taxable as it is treated as other income for tax purposes....

If correct, since my brother has already been claiming the US SS, that might not help him towards UK pension, even if he could have used the credits...

Thanks lansbury. I probably misunderstood the use of credits in one country for purposes of qualifying in the other. Still a bit confused, though.
