Oh and get this: Many zero hour contracts have a clause that you cannot work for anyone else! So, they may give you two hours a week, and then 10 hours a week the next week, and then five hours......

They only pay you if they give you work. So, no work, no pay. And, because it isn't contracted, they take ages and ages to pay - I sometimes did not get paid for three months. I had to wait till it...

Here is the thing about zero hour contracts:

You do not HAVE a job. You are a disposable hero.

You cannot say 'no'. You have no idea if you will have any work or not. You can be 'fired' for...

Brighton has a HUGE amount of poverty, as does London. So, I'm unsure why you are surprised.

Organisations = Learning facilities = colleges.

Because she was teaching at least three classes at three locations.

She couldn't find a full time, permanent job in one location where she was teaching three classes.

Yes it is a bit like university adjunct positions in the USA, which also suck. But, that didn't exist here in the past.

No, I do not know her, but I have personally been on a HORRID zero hour...

There are teachers on Zero Hour Contracts, yes.

And Nurses working for the NHS are on them as well - no, not all of them, but some of them.

All sorts of professions, not just 'dead end jobs',...

In the UK they count Pensions as Benefits. That is a huge amount of the number they claim they spend in benefits - Pensions!

I know there are people who take advantage of the UK benefit system, and I know there are UK people with an awful lot of money who are tax dodgers, and I know that this government loses a lot more...

I'm not 'annoyed because some people are successful' at all. I work, I hold a title of assistant director, and I earn a good wage, and live in a nice place. My husband also works, and earns a good...

I live in London, in Wandsworth, but I travel all over the UK for work, and I see people without teeth and winter coats in different locations across the UK... I also see people with so much money...
