Re: New DEFRA Regs from January 2012

I feel like we would book the kennels first and then plan our move around that. Still not sure whether it would be better to fly with lufthansa into Germany though, since we would still have to fly...

Re: No savings and not enough income, help!

This. Last time I went to the UK I had a wedding dress in my carry-on, and we had like 6 pieces of luggage since we were moving to the US after our stay in the UK. Nothing was said and the IO said...

Re: Renouncing citizenship, huge increase in fees

My husband used to file electronically from abroad when we lived in Japan as well. Never had any problems, you might need the full version of TurboTax though to do it?

Re: Anyone in Austin/Texas Hill Country

I don't live there and don't know anyone that does... it seems like mostly a place where people go to get away at weekends, not sure what actual industry there is other than wine?

If you don't...

Re: I think this is the right place?? UK Citizen Moving back to UK with US Spouse/Chi

I keep reading this over but get stuck in a loop.

Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but other than SS, Tier 4 and a work visa there are two options:

1) Work in foreign country for 12 months...

Re: New DEFRA Regs from January 2012

Sorry couple more questions!

1) What do you think is the ideal time to start the process of getting forms / vaccinations before you leave?

2) Is there a company that will take care of all the...

Re: I think this is the right place?? UK Citizen Moving back to UK with US Spouse/Chi

Yes I am well aware that the sponsor (UKC) is the one who has to earn the required amount, I was just wondering if the job had to begin 1) within 3 months of applying for the visa or 2) within 3...

Re: I think this is the right place?? UK Citizen Moving back to UK with US Spouse/Chi

As long as he makes the required amount he should be fine (with 1 job or 2 jobs), but he must make that required amount for 6 months BEFORE he applies for your visa. Or he needs a job offer/s in...

Re: 14-05-2014 - The Immigration Act 2014

This is the bit I am confused about, they have to pay the levy and also pay 150% of the cost of treatment? Or by paying the levy they can use the NHS the same as UK citizens?

Re: (UK) spouse visa and exemptions - Know your rights.

The second story sounds like yeah they didn't apply for the visa before they came, and no-one likes queue jumpers. Buuuut, it's super tricky right? Her unborn child some would consider technically a...

Re: I think this is the right place?? UK Citizen Moving back to UK with US Spouse/Chi

Just my personal opinion but I feel it's unlikely? If you are not on benefits and contributing to tax revenue, I don't think they will care if the job you have now isn't the job you had on your...

Re: Tier 4 Student Visa to Spousal Visa

Thanks for the info! I figured from a legal standpoint it was OK, but I was just worried about turning up at immigration with 2 cats and immigration refusing the visa because it would look like he...

Re: UK Spouse Visa question

It's a Japanese document that proves residency / who lives in your household and their relationship to you. In Japan it's very rare to have joint bills so the juminhyo is really the only thing you...

Tier 4 Student Visa to Spousal Visa

So my husband and I have been discussing how to move back to the UK without a lengthy separation. I think the likelihood of getting a job with a start date 6 months from application time is unlikely....

Re: UK Spouse Visa question

If you have been living together for 2 years you should be fine, just make sure you have evidence that you lived together (juminhyo since I guess everything else will be in one or the other's name)....

Re: Should we move back to the UK or is it something else...?

Wow really? That just seems crazy that I can take him anywhere else in the EU except the UK *_* I mean I knew about the SS route but I guess I just assumed the non EU citizen needed a work visa.

Re: Should we move back to the UK or is it something else...?

I think my company offers 1/2 pay, which my co-worker told me was 'really good' :/

Re: Should we move back to the UK or is it something else...?

I am aware of this, but if we were to move to say somewhere else in EU, he could potentially get a work visa and I (I think) could look for work once there. True we could do this for the UK as well,...

Re: Should we move back to the UK or is it something else...?

Thanks for the replies guys, it has given us a lot to think about.

So I realise there are a few threads like this, but I am feeling a little lost and was hoping maybe someone who has been in a similar situation would be able to offer some advice. I am not sure if...

Re: New DEFRA Regs from January 2012

Thanks for the advice! I feel like now, having researched it, it seems like taking them back via the Queen Mary seems like the least stressful option for our pets. Part of me thinks though that since...

Re: New DEFRA Regs from January 2012

OK, so I feel like a complete crazy person posting here considering we aren't planning on moving back to the UK for a good while (currently in the US)... but it's been bothering me a lot.

We have...
