Adding foreign beneficiary on bank account

Hi, I'm wondering what's the best way to do the above. I'm single, with no kids and would like to name a relative who lives in the UK as the beneficiary for my savings accounts. I was able to do that...

Re: B1 in lieu of H

You could also use your UK Ltd company to apply for an E1 visa, which doesn't require investment. You could then continue to work as a consultant for US clients under a corp-to-corp arrangement,...

Re: Accountant please!!

I find the FBAR to be straightforward and file it myself, so I would suggest looking at it if you haven't already. For Form 8938 I had a good experience last year with Bright! Tax.

Re: E-2 visa appointment wait times, London

Check the schedule regularly if you want an earlier appointment as some earlier slots will get released due to cancellations. However, don't you need to receive official notice first from the E...

Re: Looking to move to Austin, TX (E2)

The E1 requires trade of goods OR services between a UK company and US clients, so it doesn't mean it has to be a traditional import/export business. It does not require the investment needed for the...

Re: SHOCK! general election June 8th

Ooh, is this the thin line between disgust and desire? You secretly can't wait for all those full page colour photos of Jeremy in his tight cycling shorts.

Anyway, the more complacent Tory voters...

Re: Paid in the UK, living in the US.

I do not see any reference to a PSC from the description. They are a director (and probably employee) of a UK company so UK corporation tax, PAYE and NI rules will be owed to HMRC. As they will be...

Re: Paid in the UK, living in the US.

Just wondering why you are saying it would be this way round? AFAIK, as they own a UK company the company will be liable for corporation tax in the UK. They will also be liable for NI and personal...

Re: E2 Visa Approved

Well done! Can I ask if there was any reason you went for the E2 and not EB-5 with that large investment?

Re: FRENCHIE MOVING TO NYC IN JAN 17 WITH ENGLISH BOYFRIEND

If you want to keep working for you UK LTD and at least 50% of your revenue is from US clients then you may be eligible for the E1, which does not require the investment of the E2.

Re: E-1 Visa, is a lawyer really necessary?

I obtained an E1 visa from the London embassy last year. You can shop around for lawyers (both in the UK or US) as the prices vary wildly. My supporting binder was also large and I doubt I could have...

Re: USA Tax question - resident in USA, but billing UK clients

It's much simpler if you don't get foreign income while in the US, but if you do via your
UK limited company you declare it but shouldn't have to pay US tax on it by citing Tax Treaty Article 7 on...

Re: Accountant wanting to move to NY

In addition to the green card lottery, changing jobs to get an L1 transfer after a year and aiming to get a H1B in 2017, if you work with personal finances you could also consider setting up shop as...

Re: How do I move to LA/USA from the UK?

I don't think so, but there are websites such as H1B Visa Salary Database 2016 (http://h1bdata.info/index.php) that allow you to see which companies sponsored H1B visas last year, the job titles and...

Re: Question about J-1 Visa Application

Yes, it is considered training. Avoid the use of 'work' and 'job' in the interview. If you've been awarded your PhD, then you are no longer a student, therefore I see nothing to worry about. Take the...

Re: Can I base my company in the US then move there?

I'm not sure the OP has mentioned anything that would rule out their E2 ineligibility. The 'substantial' amount really depends on the type of business and there is no agreed definition. It may be...

Re: Question about J-1 Visa Application

Try to relax. A J-1 Visa interview would most likely only last one or two minutes.

Is it really a 'job' or is it a postdoc? Postdocs are considered training which is why you would be on a J-1 and...

Re: H1B 2015 Application Timings

Yes, but if someone is claiming to be out of IR35 for tax purposes (and there is not much point in being a contractor otherwise), then I think it would be difficult to still try to claim to be a de...

Re: Emigrating to the US but work freelance.

No, I did mean the E1. I doubted that the OP has the funds for the substantial investment required for the E2; the very minimum lawyers seem to suggest is $50k. E1 is for a foreign business with...

Re: Emigrating to the US but work freelance.

Yes, I'm talking about the cap exempt H1B; I'm not sure it's worth going for the exempt H1B. There are several types of employers that can sponsor a cap exempt H1B, e.g. charities, research...

Re: Emigrating to the US but work freelance.

It would be quite difficult to get a visa that would enable you to continue to work as you do unless you have a substantial amount of invoices from US clients. If you can start to get some work from...

Re: US Business/Visa Help

I would try to speak to an immigration lawyer before you join his company so that you have all the facts on what would be best for you. It may be better for you if you kept your business open.

Re: H1B Advice - Moving to US

This is something you would have to do for yourself and not your client's lawyer, which is why he may not have raised it. Contact a UK based immigration lawyer, or at least one that is familiar with...

Re: H1B Advice - Moving to US

That's great news. Have you looked into whether your UK LTD can help you be in the US on an E1 visa in the meantime?

Re: Emigrate from London UK to New York, US

But it's OK to give fault advice in the forum? I'm working remotely from the US for a UK company on a B1 in lieu of H1B visa at the moment so I know the process. Anyway, as I suggest, the OP should...
