If you're going early December, be aware that 5th December is a National Holiday in Thailand for the King's Birthday. Bar and nightlife areas will be subdued, if not closed altogether.

It was reported a while back that changing to the photocard type would be made compulsory in 2015. I don't know if the government is proceeding with this or not.

The market rate is different in different locations, just as outgoings are different.

If you don't know the norm for the location, I think it's fair to ask. No-one wants to under sell themselves...

I've only got an old style paper license as never had the need to change to the new style.
