T1135 - Foreign Income Verification Statement (http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/E/pbg/tf/t1135/README.html)

From the form itself

Re: Tax - paper filing ! Help!

I started filling in the T1135 and then saw it clearly said on the form that in the first year that one arrives in Canada, this form is not required. So I did not send in this form.

Thanks,...

Re: Tax - paper filing ! Help!

One last question (hopefully!) I have printed my paper tax return and signed it. Do I have to supply any documents along with it? I have UK rental income and UK dividend income.

Thanks,
Alastair

Re: Tax - paper filing ! Help!

I would err on the side of caution and include these details. I did in my return.

Re: Tax - paper filing ! Help!

Can someone confirm the correct address to mail a first-time tax return to? The CRA web pages are a bit confusing, but one section seems to imply that I must send my return to:

International tax...

Re: Pulling my hair out with tax return - should we just get an accountant?

Another question regarding UK rental income, I am sure there are many of us in this situation.

First of all, I have prepared a set of accounts for my rental business which run from January 2014 to...

Re: Pulling my hair out with tax return - should we just get an accountant?

Hi,

I have to admit I am struggling myself here with Turbo Tax online for my first Canadian tax return. Anyone suggest any good accountants or tax preppers that can do expat returns in the...

Re: Living in Canada, Working remotely in UK, bank and tax question

Without revealing my client's details, I can assure you I cannot make any contractual changes with regard to service delivery. All manner of vetting and security clearance is needed, and that cannot...

Re: Living in Canada, Working remotely in UK, bank and tax question

If they are deducting NI and income tax then your husband is being treated as an employee of that organisation. I can't see any way around that. If he is a contractor, then he will invoice the firm...

Re: Living in Canada, Working remotely in UK, bank and tax question

Thanks Aviator, that makes sense. As a director of my Ltd company I couldn't also be an external contractor, but otherwise this all makes sense. I just declare to CRA my UK dividend income, and all...

Re: Living in Canada, Working remotely in UK, bank and tax question

Thanks for the advice Steve. The problem is that I am in a contractual arrangement and simply cannot change the entity that is billing the client. So my UK Ltd company must continue to bill for...

Re: Living in Canada, Working remotely in UK, bank and tax question

Ok. So I will have some notional tax due on my personal UK income, but this should be offset by the tax I actually paid in the UK? Is that about it?

What sort of tax return do I prepare in Canada...

Re: Living in Canada, Working remotely in UK, bank and tax question

Hi folks,

I'm a bit confused about why people are talking about paying self employed taxes in Canada. Are you not all paying the relevant taxes in the UK? I have a UK limited company which...

re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland

We used movingpartnership.co.uk who subcontracted locally (UK side) to Anglo Pacific. We went with groupage on a 20' container. We agreed on 2800 for 650 sq ft (I think) but because we went over by...

re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland

Most likely this is the final post from me in this thread. We went to customs on Main Street in Vancouver. After a short wait (maybe 20m) a cheerful officer quickly checked my wife's ID and then took...

re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland

Thanks, Mary. Good to know that we are not the only ones. Maybe Vancouver customs are so busy they have no time for routine settlers. I'll report back once I have visited customs and (God willing)...

re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland

re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland

Oh my goodness! Permanent Resident Decision Made!

I just checked today. Not sure what date the said decision was actually made (but it was still in process Wednesday last week I think).
