Re: Zero hour contracts.

You were a contractor, a pimp, sold tax avoidance/evasion as the main benefit of contracting yet despise contractors so much. Don't believe a word you are saying after all that.

Re: Zero hour contracts.

I got a big premium for being a contractor and my contract was legitimate.

Re: Zero hour contracts.

I have never deferred any tax from one year to the next and how would you know if I did. I think you refer to bank bonuses which is nothing to do with contractors. Deferring tax to the next year...

Re: Zero hour contracts.

Where did I cheat the taxman?- I have nearly 30 years worth of audited accounts agreed with HMRC and could show tax being paid at the same rate as anyone on a similar income.

If you want to...

Re: Zero hour contracts.

It was intended to finish contracting and force us into taking permanent or temporary work and then hopefully become members of the unions. Both the Labour Party and the Unions made it clear how...

Re: Zero hour contracts.

I think it is about 2 extremes.

1. Employers lost the decision making process in selecting/promoting employees as the govt made so much legislation to protect employees and specific groups that...

Re: Application for PR From a 3rd Party Country

We are resident in an Asian country and applied as (b) - also near the end of the process so hope they do not say we were wrong now. The forms are badly worded as if to imply that our situation is...

Re: Property prices in Canada

Last year our property was valued at £320k and sold this year at 365k. Its not in central London but in Berkshire/Hants borders. We had one offer of 340k CASH and were shown a bank statement to...

Re: Property prices in Canada

Things can crash more than once. The UK property market crashed in 1990's and 2008 and I expect again in 2014/5. Before 1990 and 2008 everybody said don't worry we've had the crash already so...

Re: Property prices in Canada

Think you are right about the UK. Some areas houses are snapped up in days/weeks after coming on the market and driving prices up but this is due to Govt policy that is underwriting mortgages and...

re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland

During the whole process I have had 3 separate requests for information - 3 Mondays in a row so maybe they only send emails on Mondays?.

1. They wanted confirmation that the sponsor will return...

Re: British passport renewal...has it recently changed?

My nephew was refused a British passport twice. He has one eye a little lower than the other and because he was unable to align his eyes for a photo was refused his passport. To get his passport he...

re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland

Incredibly annoying with their processes, IT in-expertise, and geography believing England, Scotland, Wales, and NI are not part of UK according to their select lists but I'm starting to see a...

re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland

Its a strange name to choose - sounds like they do repairs to crashed cars not chest x-rays and the like.

re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland

Re-done my medical today and one of the examiners mentioned how often CIC ignored requests from PP's regarding medicals. They often have to search forums or talk to PP's in other cities to get...

Re: Exporting Dog Through Heathrow, HELP!

Airports/airlines all have different rules so strongly suggest going to their websites and searching transport from different airports if you don't want to use a transport agent. We have a...

Re: Exporting Dog Through Heathrow, HELP!

You may find it is the airport and not the airline that has this restriction. I read on Air Canada's website a whole lot of info about transporting pets and it was different rules from different...

re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland

Sounds like you have a long time left on your meds before expiry - I had only weeks which eventually ran out hence the urgency.

I think I've ended up with an advantage in the end, my COPR will...

re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland

Thanks siouxie.

The medical ran out just after RPRF so it didn't quite make it to COPR actually being issued although it was the next and last step according to CIC's website. It is very specific...
