I don't believe SSA think that way. They go by months you are employed that have been used to give you a pension. It doesn't matter if its earnings related as it only matters if you were employed...

Good question. I assume earnings limits are your tax position, not your salary position from employment though they can amount to the same!

Using the General Method on IRS Publication 939 (and following Example 1 on Page 10) it seems I can only deduct about 4 to 5% of cost per annum of my total voluntary NICs paid in to a UK State...
