And to sort of answer your question Mandy, there are a lot of reasons we prefer to live in the UK over the US, we generally prefer the lifestyle but the main reason is being close to family.

I believe I need a British birth cert to claim child benefit, but I could be wrong. If anyone knows anything about that I'd be interested in hearing about it.

I thought that the copy might be OK and that they would process it- that is what I wanted to gain. And, yes, I made a mistake not having it sent by courier.

We're looking to move in about 5 weeks. The passport wait time is at least 6 weeks so I don't want to risk sending off all my docs for that and then not being able to travel.

Yes, both my husband (child's father) and I were born in the UK. We have been working in the US for 5 years on visas.

I called UK Border Agency about this and didn't really get a straight answer. They said he can enter on the US...
