I've checked the amount and it seems correct as per property valuation. The property doesn't appear as an asset on financas site for my partner only mine, for some reason.

The policy will tell you which law applies, you would not have a choice. It is stated in the policy conditions. The country where the property is located does not have anything to do with it.

I like to support the Portuguese economy whenever I can, but personally, I prefer to be insured by a UK company, it saves any misunderstanding of what you are covered for due to language differences...
