Re: single magazines

Yes, I'm afraid that'll be the easiest way, after all.

Re: single magazines

Yes, I'd looked at the British Corner Shop. They didn't have what I was looking for, but there's a "suggest products" page.

single magazines

Is there some way to order single issues (not a subscription, not Kindle/iphone) of British magazines online in or to France?

I tried to google that, but didn't succeed - all I get is for...

Re: choosing internet and telephone provider

Those who use Free with the Freebox - that's voice over IP, isn't it? Is the quality of the phone calls good? Some time ago, friends who had a VOIP phone provider complained that it was sometimes...

Downloading foreign stuff - problems?

One reads a lot about France having the strictest piracy laws, and that actually somebody had to stand trial etc.

Does anyone around here know if they only focus on things sold in France, or would...

Re: choosing internet and telephone provider

I'm just trying to compare plans at ariase.com. Is Prixtel any good? They have a deal that might fit to what we need (20 or 25 Mbit/s is much more than I have now, and 1h (each?) included to French...

Re: choosing internet and telephone provider

Thanks, I'll have a look.

(Forgot to say, I'm using my mobile mainly for incoming calls, and for rather limited internet, never exceeded my current 250MB.)

choosing internet and telephone provider

I know this is an eternal topic, and I'm sorry if it bores the old hands here, but then again, it's eternally changing, and threads from five years ago just didn't help me much. So:

We're moving...

Pre-prep type school in San Francisco

Does anyone happen to know what would be the most suitable school in or around San Francisco to prepare a boy for an independent school in England later?

Re: online banks - minimum sum

I see, thanks.

The scenario is a bit different - you have you GSCE, so they take you on. You never fail a test, but will they throw you out if you hang around in another college's library all the...

Re: online banks - minimum sum

Thanks, I'll check that. (For other banks, I found the detailed rates sheet. Fortuneo, for example, say explicitly that you have to have a monthly income of so-and-so much or alternatively so-and-so...

Re: online banks - minimum sum

Because of what we heard about many banks, and because we don't really know what we'd need a brick-and-mortar branch for, we basically decided to go for an online bank; we just don't know which yet,...

Re: imminent sat changes - what to do in NE France

Yes, we'll ask local technicians and wait until more is known about the new satellite. (We're moving in April or May, should survive the gap.)

Also, damn your sig. :-)

Re: imminent sat changes - what to do in NE France

Yes, I saw that picture - that's what made me wonder. :-) I suppose I'll have to find a trustworthy local technician and ask with that map in my hand.

(And nothing new, I know, but it's a shame...

**Astra Satellite Change Questions**

The BBC will change to Astra 2E and 2F. Is there a chance we'll be able to get the channels in Alsace in the North-East of France, or should we drop the idea of installing a dish right away?

Hello everybody,

we're about to open a bank account, still deciding which. Now some of them say you have to have minimum montly incomes or savings for the account and the credit cards.

We do...
