It should be doable. Three years of industry experience generally substitutes for one year of college. You need a good immigration lawyer (on the other hand, Bill Gates can probably afford one :) )...

It may be odd but it's true. The cut-off is one year before your six years in H status expire. Your employer will have to file annual extensions for your H-1B until your application is decided.

To expand, if you're an H-1 and your fiancee isn't in the US, you should marry her, get her an H-4, and bring her to the US. Once you're both here, submit your I-485....

Unfortunately, no. 180-day portability only applies with an approved I-140. If for some reason your I-140 was approved but your I-485 was delayed, then you could use portability. But that's unlikely...
