I live in Horsell. It's a nice area and close to the town centre/train station. I went to Godalming College and would say Godalming is far, far nicer - as is most of Waverley lol. Some of the houses...

It's not really important. Like I said in my OP, I'd just love to live/at least get closer to NYC as I really enjoyed it and wanted to investigate the possibilities. I think this thread has answered...

Great story, glad he's made it to where he wants to be. Just shows how much an ACA is worth and how Big 4 always recruit because so many of their grads up stick and trade practice for industry.

I spoke to a friend last night, who's currently working for Deloitte and he said managers have been seconded to the States to work on projects on L1s but they were there in a consulting capacity...

Thanks for the help, I'll be applying for internships next year with Deloitte and EY - if I get them it'll give me a better understanding of whether practice is for me. That said, I wouldn't mind...

Thanks for the info. Yeah, they're all hard work but from what I've been told the actual content isn't too difficult, it's the sheer content of the exam modules which is horrific and thus requires...

An ACA training agreement (just the chance to study for it) isn't too difficult to obtain, it won't cost me anything and is equivalent of a Masters. Secondly, an MA or MSc costs thousands of pounds...

Well big4 make you study for all/vast majority of papers within your first year and early in your second, so it's not really 'all that', it's pretty much 12 months in total of solid study. Many ACAs...

I was talking about the bare minimums, ie a college degree, from what I've read, in accounting in the states, is enough to call yourself one, in the UK, it isn't.

Yeah, I was thinking secondment which is more common for Law firms I think. And you're right, if there is a secondment, many countries in the Commonwealth accept or have an agreement with the ICAEW....
