In your hmrc app under NI contributions and amounts to pay, has that been updated to reflect your class 2 lower rates by any chance?

ok thanks - wish they would update the status in the app. How difficult can that be? We sit in the dark for months not knowing if a letter has been lost or sent to the wrong recipient.

When my wife from Uruguay came to live with me in the UK she had to start all from scratch to get a British licence even though she had been driving for 30+ years.
There was no option to swap....

Yep it is confirmed I cannot renew it and certainly not worth the risks with the penalties stated on the site.
I was very unaware of this when I moved here. Thought I could just keep it renewed...

Actually I live in Uruguay but this is the thread I get responses from with similar expat questions.
I'll look into it further thanks but certainly looks like I shouldn't renew looking at that...

When your direct debits were set up for class 2 NI contributions were you advised by letter only (overseas)?
Or on the app also? Did they just start taking money out?

Thanks - just a bit worried about putting my old address there in case they send anything out to the UK address - you never know with HMRC!
